We work hard to find you the best discount hotels and last minute hotel deals, wherever you are going and want to be close and convenient (we'll even show you the distance between the hotel and airport).
Airport hotels with parking packages have become very popular among seasoned travelers. Often less than the cost of airport parking alone, these special price packages offer convenient parking and hotel accommodation options when you leave or return from your vacation. If you have an early morning departure, just book an airport hotel that offers Park, Sleep and Fly packages, staying the night before you depart, rather than leaving home in the early hours of the morning and running the risk of missing your flight. And often, the cost of the Park Sleep and Fly hotel packages with free airport parking is about the same as the airport parking alone.

Business Travel Expected To Match, Surpass 2009 levels
A poll of 227 travel experts showed that nearly 40 percent thought booking levels should be similar to 2009, while 28 percent expected them to be better. Only 12 predicted bookings would decrease.
We’re seeing that business travel clients continue to book the same level of hotel accommodations as in the past, but we’re also seeing a noteworthy percentage of Travel Leaders business travel experts indicating a fair number of their clients are now starting to fly in business or in first class,” said Roger E. Block, the president of Travel Leaders Franchise Group.
“That being said, many clients are still opting for economy class airline tickets as they seek to maximize value at every turn” he added in a statement.
More than a third of the experts questioned in the Travel Leaders poll said they had 11 percent or more bookings in first or business class, and 53 percent indicated between one and 10 percent of their clients were traveling “up front.”

Business Travelers Win Battle For Free Hotel Internet Access
Corporate business travel managers are taking advantage of the downturn in travel to negotiate the prized service, says DeAnne Dale, a sales executive at online business travel management firm Travelocity Business.
They’re also getting free service from big hotel groups such as Hilton, Marriott and Starwood. And they’re getting it at the same time the chains say they’re not changing their policies and will continue to charge guests from $9.95 to $14.95 a day for Wi-Fi.
Some upscale hotels, such as Hyatt’s new Andaz chain, are including it in their rates. Some others, such as Fairmont and Omni, provide it free to members of their loyalty programs.
Having a free Internet connection is something that corporate business managers say their travelers want most, Dale says.
But hotels, which are suffering from their worst year financially in more than 20, are reluctant to make Internet connections free for everyone.

Fort Lauderdale's Sheraton Yankee Clipper Re-Opens This Friday
via hotelchatter:
Just in time for the Super Bowl, Fort Lauderdale gets a jazzed-up new version of an old classic, the hotel formerly known as the Sheraton Yankee Clipper Beach Resort. As of this Friday, the ship-shaped hotel will be known as the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel.
Sadly, there are no rooms available for Super Bowl weekend, but presumably a batch of NFL execs or cashed-up football fans will get to watch the game on the new flat-screens, sleep on the new Sheraton Sweet Sleeper beds, and swim in the new pool, which is double the size of the old one.
The hotel’s infamous Wreck Bar will also return with a makeover—although there’s no word yet if the mermaids who entranced drinkers through the bar’s porthole windows will also be back.
Built in the ’50s, the Yankee Clipper was a Fort Lauderdale icon long before the W (and its Real Housewives) came to town. It closed last June for the big makeover, and now faces competition in a slew of new properties including the W, sister property the Westin Beach Resort (formerly the Yankee Trader) and the Atlantic Hotel.

How To Haggle With Hotels
What's a hotel room worth? These days, it depends how hard you're willing to bargain, writes The Globe and Mail and gives its reader some inside tips how to get the best hotel rates.
Have you ever haggled for a hotel? Not just asking for their best rate, but asking them to do better, and then asking for an upgrade?
It can be awkward the first couple of times you try it. In North America, prices feel like they’re set in stone. But hotels are scrambling to get by these days. The latest numbers from industry analysts Smith Travel Research show average occupancy in Canada is down significantly – about 45 per cent of hotel rooms are empty at any given time, and revenues and rates have fallen too. In this climate, you might be surprised at how willing hoteliers are to make a deal.
As veteran travellers know, hotel rates are something of a Russian doll: always something a little smaller hidden inside if you take the time to look. There’s the rack rate; nobody pays that. Then there’s the seasonal rate, the loyalty rate, the CAA rate, and so on. But these days, I figured you might be able to do better, so I called hotels across the country last week and gave it my best shot.

2010 Travel Trends
From USA Today Travel
Let’s make a deal: If you thought last year was a buyer’s market for travelers, just wait: Even as airlines, hotels and other suppliers talk “cautious optimism” for 2010, a recent USA TODAY/Gallup Poll showed only 16% of respondents plan to fly more or stay more often in hotels this year than they did in 2009 - with about 30% saying they’ll travel less often. The probable upshot: stable or lower prices, increased willingness to negotiate, and more online auctions from companies trying to unload unused inventory.
Rise of the real-time Web: “In the still rapidly expanding online world, instant gratification is even easier to obtain: ‘Digital’ has become synonymous with ‘instant,’ ” says Reinier Evers of the trend tracking site Trendwatching.com. With nearly half of U.S. adults using social networking sites, expect more time-sensitive “flash sales” offered via Facebook or Twitter, more real-time postings of travel experiences, and faster response from companies and institutions fearful that negative opinions will go viral. (Are you listening, TSA?) One wild card: Google Wave, a much-hyped but still little-used online tool for real-time communication and collaboration that could set a new direction for trip planning.
Appetite for apps: Thanks to a global rollout of high-speed data networks and robust sales of GPS-enabled smartphones, look for an explosion of travel-related apps for everything from airport security (On the Spot System’s new iPhone app lets users rate TSA screening checkpoints) to ordering hotel room service before you check in (just-released apps for Hilton, Embassy Suites and Doubletree).“Traditional travel services will meet geo-location and social networking to make travelers’ lives easier,” predicts Alan Warms of review site Appolicious.com.

Traveling To New Orleans

It's hard to find a better place to visit in the U.S. than New Orleans. In the French Quarter, you can stand in the center of Jackson Square and walk upriver or downriver, then circle all the way through the Quarter until you're back where you started. Along the way, you will have marveled at beautiful buildings, peaked through gateways, sipped a cool drink, gazed at street painters, and grooved to sounds emanating from everywhere, whether it be from a bar or a street musician. And because so many of these vibrant streets are alive with activity, you can settle on one or two and still get a French Quarter experience.
You can also head uptown to the Garden District and stroll amidst the canopies of mighty oak trees, where gorgeous antebellum homes with decorative iron fences and lush gardens reside. Toward the river, more than 140 shops line Magazine Street. Inside the many 19th-century brick storefronts are antiques, art galleries, crafts, fashion boutiques, and vintage vinyl. Take a walk through Faubourg Marigny, across Esplandade from the French Quarter, with its funky bohemian mood; Frenchmen Street is the main drag here. Or stroll over to the Warehouse District, upriver a few blocks from the Quarter, and check out all the Julie Street galleries.
